Committee Scope

The Gender Based Violence Committee drives awareness and action that focuses on:
  • Creating awareness about the pervasive nature of gender-based violence and its deep-rooted connections with cultural norms, power dynamics, and personal attitudes.
  • Establishing safe spaces and promoting open dialogues to address discomfort and encourage discussions around gender-based violence.
  • Addressing and alleviating fears related to speaking out against gender-based violence, including fears of backlash and loss of social acceptance.
  • Challenging and dismantling the pride that hinders the recognition and correction of harmful biases, particularly those related to toxic masculinity and outdated gender roles.
  • Fostering collective self-awareness and action through introspection, with the goal of creating a more just and equitable society free from gender-based oppression.
